Adam, a Czech startup operating in Ireland in 6 counties is modernising the way clients find reliable and available tradespeople without the hassle of long wait times and confusing price lists, has big plans ahead. After a successful expansion in 11 European countries, Adam now plans to extend their services beyond Europe and into more construction trades. Brighteye, the leading European edtech VC, supports the startup’s endeavour with €3 million in late-seed funding.
Adam makes it easy to book tradespeople online, focusing on painting services and apartment renovations. The company has served three times the number of projects year-on-year, boasting more than 15,000 completed jobs. In Ireland, Adam is already thriving in the biggest counties such as Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Wexford, and Waterford.
"Undoubtedly, traditional craftsmanship needs modernisation. No one has yet managed to solve all three decisive factors – quality, availability, and price – simultaneously. We decided to tackle this complex situation one trade at a time, and we are very happy how much success we have seen on markets mainly in Ireland. Our vision is that one day you will be able to build an entire house through Adam,” says Adam’s co-founder Roman Sysel.
The startup plans to strengthen its presence in markets where it is already successful, including Ireland. Additionally, Adam aims to expand into new cities and countries outside Europe, broaden its offerings to new trades, and build a development team to enhance automation and improve the customer experience.
“We are excited to support Adam’s mission to modernise a traditional industry which has seen no change for decades. While providing their clients with a hassle-free experience, Adam also facilitates continuous training and professional development for the craftsmen, empowering these professionals to expand their services and improve their competitiveness. This not only benefits the craftsmen but also ensures customers receive high-quality services,” says Ben Wirz, Founding Partner at Brighteye.
The support and optimisation the platform provides helps contractors grow their business and take on more complex and better-paid projects. “Trade professionals generally spend a lot of time with site inspections, work planning, and customer communication. Adam takes care of everything for them, allowing tradespeople to triple the number of jobs they can handle in a month. This translates into a massive increase in efficiency, enabling them to charge less. In other words, customers save money while craftsmen earn more. It's a win-win situation all around,” explains Adam’s co-founder Jakub Dvorak.
The startup has impressed investors with their rapid and efficient growth, ambitious plans, and excellent customer feedback. The platform replaces complicated price lists with a simple and transparent online calculator, which immediately shows the customer the estimated job cost and allows them to request the home-improvement service with one click. Adam then connects the customer with a professional available at the desired time and location, and ensures the job is completed successfully.
"It's remarkable to follow Adam’s success and the results they’ve achieved since the previous Presto investment – including their expansion into new countries and the launch of renovation and brick-masonry services. We’re certainly proud to be Adam’s first VC investor," concludes Roman Novacek, partner at Presto Ventures, which backed the company with a €1M seed investment a year and a half ago.
